Can I eat ice cream after bone graft?
A diet of zero consistency foods is advised for the FIRST WEEK. This can include protein shakes, smoothies, milk shakes, smooth ice cream, yogurt, pudding, JELL-O®. This is to ensure that you avoid disturbing the grafting site allowing everything to heal in the correct placement.
A soft, mild, and nutritionally balanced diet should be consumed for 2–4 days (or longer if necessary) after your surgery. As the tissue around the bone graft heals, you can return to your normal eating routine.
Start with soft to liquid foods such as yogurt, pudding, applesauce, mashed potatoes, soup, smoothies, and protein shakes. Once the numbness has dissipated, solid foods can be reintroduced to your diet. You may be on a softer diet for a day or two. Advance to a normal diet as tolerated.
