Does JDM mean only sold in Japan?

There is a common misconception that any Japanese branded car is JDM; however, this is not true. Only a vehicle made in Japan specifically to be sold in Japan is considered JDM.

Also, besides their high-performance stats, most JDMs are among the most affordable Japanese cars on the market – "ordinary people" can afford them. Additionally, they are available everywhere across the globe.

If a car is manufactured in Japan and exported to the US, Europe, or elsewhere outside Japan, it is not considered a JDM car. JDM cars are made in a way that complies with the rules and regulations of the Japanese market. These cars are more fuel efficient.
